Two Scents Worth

Sorry for the huge break in posting!! I'm hoping to get some pictures taken and posted of some of my new shopping finds, but until then I thought I'd give you a short post about some of my favorite scents. Coco Chanel said, "A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future." I'll be the first to admit that putting on perfume tends to get forgotten in my morning rush, but when I do remember it has a great positive impact on my day!! So whether or not you believe Coco, give these two scents a try!!

Double Duty

I found these boots while I was hunting on Polyvore, and I absolutely fell in love with them. The shape is so traditional, but I have never seen boots in cowprint before! These boots would be great for exploring the country side or a city scape. Thus inspiring this double duty post!!

Theme Thursday!

I'm usually not into "theme" outfits but for some reason the french themed outfits this season are really getting my attention.  Here is my attempt to keep the look of a french styled outfit without going overboard with matchy details.  I think that the moccasins, fedora, and large owl necklace add an unexpected but pleasant twist to the french base.

Shopping Sunday!

After a long, fun, and eventful weekend (more details to follow) I relaxed on Sunday by taking a shopping trip with my friends. I wasn't really planning on buying anything, but there were some really great sales.  One of the stores I was most suprised at was American Eagle.  I haven't regularly shopped there since high school, but there were some really great finds.  Here are two of the newest additions to my closet!

American Eagle Silk High Waisted Drapey Shorts

American Eagle Festival Dress

Cute top details!!!
I love how the idea of high waisted shorts for this summer, they are so classic and perfect to transition from day to night. The dress is perfect for everyday things like running errands and shopping trips!! Have a great Monday!!

Garage Sale Gold

Hopefully you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the semi-summer weather! I had a great weekend. I got to go to one of my favorite sporting events, grilled out, hit up the farmer's market, and made a major garage sale find! Usually I'm not a huge fan of garage sales because I don't like the frenzied atmosphere (looks like I won't ever make it in a NY sample sale), but I made a quick stop at one with a friend and got a great coffee table for $5!!

Ignore the fingerprints all over the glass!! I would have cleaned it up, but it's going in storage for a few months until I get my place and who really wants to clean on Saturday? There is also another small piece of glass that goes on the bottom rack.

Here's another less fingerprinty shot! I love the streamline design of the table, and the fact that it isn' t a visually heavy piece.  Since I have a small apartment I wanted a coffee table that would be chic and useful but blend into the back ground. I'm also really excited about the bottom rack, I'm debating whether to use it to house magazines/interesting coffee table books, or to hold more practical things such as coasters and remotes.
Happy Sunday/ Mother's Day.  A special Mother's shout out to my mom, the best mentor/shopping companion I could ever have. (To this day she still picks out better clothes for me than I ever could for my self!)

Trendy Tops

I love unpacking my summer clothes after winter is over, especially when I rediscover a great piece that I forgot about over the winter.  While I was unpacking this year I realized that I have a lot of dresses (pretty good for a girl who refused to wear dresses until she was 16!). I also noticed that I only have three summer shirts!! So now I'm trying to limit my dress intake (which is a lot harder than it sounds with graduation and summer celebrations coming up) and beef up my shirt supply.  Here are some top contenders.

Wedding Party Parfaits

Okay here goes my first food post! Granted it's not anything gourmet or exciting, but you have to start somewhere right?  After taking these pictures I realized that I had all of the traditional wedding elements (old, new, borrowed, and blue) which just made the breakfast even more wedding appropriate.

Old: These were my grandma's dessert glasses.  I love how simple and elegant that they are.
New: The food? I'm kind of stretching this one, but it still works.
Borrowed: I borrowed a silver cake stand from my mom to put the croissants on top of.
Blue: The cute vintage napkin.

I hop you enjoyed the royal wedding! Enjoy your weekend.

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Well it's been a while since I've put out a post, but I thought that this blog crawl was a great way to get started!! In honor of the royal wedding, Breakfast at Toast is hosting a blog crawl! We are supposed to put together a wedding themed post. So here is my idea of the dream wedding.

Theme: Classic with a Rustic Touch

The Ring
Zales
I love yellow diamonds! They are unique and and the color adds some unexpected fun.  Added Bonus: It's unlikely that any of your friends will end up with the same ring style as you.  I love the design of this ring but I would have preferred that the yellow diamond and the diamonds around it were in an oval or circle shape, but unfortunately I couldn't find a ring that fulfilled that criterion.

The Dress

I love the shape and style of this dress. The lace is very classic, but the high neck, trumpet cut, and ribbon make it a little more modern. I also like that it has a little bit of a train in the back.
The Shoes

It wouldn't be an Urban Cowgirl wedding without the boots!! I know some people have huge objections to cowboy boots at a wedding, but I am not one of those people.  I think they look cute and add a personal touch to the ceremony and reception.

The Tux

Our elegant tuxedo is impeccably tailored in pure wool for a luxurious drape. Satin-covered buttons. Full Bemberg lining. Dry clean. Made in the USA.
Brooks Brothers
For some reason I have never been a huge fan of vests with wedding tuxedos.  I think that it can appear "prom-like".  Therefore I would choose a classic tux with black cummerbund, bow tie, and button covers.

Bride's Maids

Jcrew

My ideal wedding would be a classic black and white wedding with pops of yellow.  I like these bridesmaid dresses because they are a classic silhouette that would look good on most bridesmaids.  It's also a dress that they could wear after the wedding, which is always appreciated!

Reception Venue
Via

This barn would be a gorgeous place to have a wedding reception. The high ceilings are amazing, and the strings of lights in the rafters make creates great ambiant light.  I also like the fact that there is a dance floor complete with disco ball! Unfortunately it is also on a different continent than I am.  Oh well!

  Decorations

The benefit of the barn reception is that there isn't a whole lot of decorating left to do, with exception to the centerpieces.  For centerpieces I would do silver and black cakestands with wedding cupcakes, instead of cake!

The (Cup)Cakes

The Knot
I'm not really a cake person, but I love cupcakes.  I realize that this doesn't make sense.  But these cakes are adorable, and they fall into the black., white, and yellow theme!

Flowers

Image Via

Thse adorable little flowers are called Billy's Buttons.  I think that they add just the right amount of color for the tuxedos, and they seem to be pretty sturdy which is good for a boutonniere, due to the insane amount of hugging that takes place at weddings.

Image Via
For bouquets I love Gerbera daises. Actually for flowers in general I love Gerbera daises. I thought the mixture of white and yellow was pretty because against the black dresses it would really bring out the black, white, and yello theme.

Guest Favors
Organic Lavender Sachet - Cerise Heart
Etsy Via
I always think it's really classy when the bride and groom have small gifts for the guests in attendance.  These are little lavender sachets. They really add to the rustic element, and are really useful!!

I hope you enjoyed my Urban Cowgirl styled wedding! Enjoy the royal wedding (if you were able to drag yourself out of bed in time!!) and stay posted for my first ever foodie post coming up soon!

Weekend Fun

This weekend was pretty laid back. I did some volunteering and a lot of shopping.  It looks like we can look forward to fun girly tank tops this spring/summer.  Here are some pieces that I would love to see appear in my closet.  If only the tooth fairy turned into a clothes fairy after you lost all your baby teeth...
